Walk of Tribute

The World Trade Center Survivors' Network sponsored a Walk of Tribute to honor various groups from the September 11 Community.

The Walk started next to "The Sphere", the sculpture by Fritz Koenig which used to stand on the plaza of the World Trade Center complex. It was recovered from the ruins after the towers were destroyed.

The Sphere is now located in Battery Park and serves as a memorial to those who died during the attack

The Sphere itself was damaged when the towers fell onto it

An eternal flame was lit in front of The Sphere on September 11, 2002

The sculpture was designed as a symbol of world peace

The Walk stopped at the PATH station at Vesey St., near the Survivors' Stairway to honor those who survived the attacks

The last stop was at St. Paul's Chapel at 211 Broadway to honor the rescue and recovery workers and other volunteers who responded to the aftermath of September 11
