NYC 9/11 Memorial Field

For four days, September 8-11, 2006, Manhattan's Inwood Hill Park became the NYC 9/11 Memorial Field.

The almost 3000 flags, one for each person lost on September 11, were arranged in the shape of two towers.

Those in uniform were represented by a Flag of Heroes. The Flag of Honor listed all those who died in the attacks.

The flags were simple: rebar stuck in the ground, flags tied to PVC pipe. The effect however was powerful.

Display of firefighter patches from around the country.

Sculpture of the much photographed pieces of tower that landed in the street. In actuality, the pieces were seven stories high. The base of the sculpture is clear plexiglass and contains dust and rubble from the site, as if you were actually walking upon it.
