Steel Beam Cross

The steel beam cross which had stood at the World Trade Center site for the past five years was moved several blocks north on Church Street to St. Peter's Church, on October 5, 2006.

The steel beam cross



The cross, and several other similar crosses, were discovered on September 13, 2001 in the ruins of 6 World Trade, the building directly north of the North Tower, by Frank Silecchia, a worker at the site.

The cross quickly became a source of comfort and hope for Christian workers at the Trade Center site, and was blessed in a ceremony on October 4, 2001.
